After the passing of Balltze, affectionately known as Cheems by the online community, in August 2023, millions of fans worldwide expressed their profound grief. For his owner, Kathy, the void left behind was not easily filled. However, a year later, on October 3, 2024, she welcomed a new member to her family: Pochita, a lively little Shiba Inu.
The name Pochita was inspired by a character from the popular manga Chainsaw Man. In the story, Pochita embodies strength despite his adorable appearance. Kathy instilled this same spirit in her Shiba Inu, hoping for a companion who is both resilient and a source of sweet, vibrant energy to move forward after the loss.
Pochita originally came from a breeding facility. Fortunately, he was taken in by the animal welfare organization AFCP before finding his forever home with Kathy. This story led many to see Pochita as “fate,” arriving at the perfect moment to bring joy and new hope to the family once bonded with Cheems.
From his first appearances on social media, Pochita quickly won the hearts of the community. Many fans call him the “spiritual successor” to Cheems—not as a replacement, but as a continuation of the happiness that the legendary dog once brought. Though still young and with a slightly sensitive digestive system, Pochita is full of energy, loves to run and play, and brings smiles to everyone around him.
Pochita’s journey is more than just the story of a cute dog. It’s a message of healing, of love for animals, and of how small creatures can bring immense strength to humans. With Pochita, a new chapter has begun—one that honors the past while brimming with hope for the future.
